Tourism Schools Salzburg - Three Well-Known Locations

For decades the Tourism Schools Salzburg have been internationally renowned training institutions for the hospitality and tourism industry. Private Schools with Public Status

The Tourism Schools Salzburg are private schools with public status. The acadmic programmes are designed with the Austrian Ministry of Education and most teachers are nominated by the Ministry. Thus the education at the Tourism Schools is fully accredited by the Austrian Government.

The owner of the schools, the Salzburg Economic Chamber, takes care of the infrastructure of the schools and practical training facilities and ensures a close link to the industry. Through practical training in the two first-class practical training facilities and in partner companies, students get industry exposure from the very beginning. Thus all students are well-prepared for the job market when they live the schools.

1946 - Founding of Tourism School in Mattsee, north of the city of Salzburg

1948 - Transfer of School to Hotel Weismayr, Bad Hofgastein

1949 - Foundation of the 'Salzburger Hotelfachschulverein'

1953 - Purchase of Grand Park Hotel

1957 - Second School opens in the Kavalierhaus Klessheim

1962 - High School for Hospitality Management starts

1963 - Advanced Diploma programme starts

1966 - First course of the Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management

1968 - Start of cooperation with the University of Salzburg

1969 - Opening of new school building and boarding house in Bad Hofgastein

1972 - Building of school in Klessheim & start of hospitality diploma for adults

1973 - Café Winkler becomes training facility for students

1980 - School in Bischofshofen founded

1992 - Renovation of school in Klessheim

1993 - Complete renovation & restructuring of Grand Park Hotel in Bad Hofgastein

2001 - Annex building of school and boarding house in Klessheim

2006 - Building of new spa area of Grand Park Hotel

2007 - Renovation of boarding house in Bischofshofen

2008 - Renovation and extension of school in Bad Hofgastein
